The Carters/Lilly - E2 Marine

This 4th of July, Make It Your Home partnered with Custom Comfort to honor those who keep us safe by furnishing the home of Lillian and Andrew, a young Marine couple in Oceanside. Preparing to welcome their first baby while facing deployment, financial strain, and caring for family health challenges, they were beginning life together in an empty house. Today, their space is complete—with a cozy living area, a nursery full of love, and a restful master bedroom anchored by a brand-new Custom Comfort mattress. What was once bare is now a true home where this Marine family can rest, recharge, and build their future.

When we met the Carters, their story reminded us of so many young military families beginning life with both excitement and uncertainty. Lillian and Andrew had just moved into their first home together on base in Oceanside. Newly married and expecting their first child, a baby boy due in January, they were filled with hope for the future. But like many military families, their joy was paired with real challenges.

Andrew, who has proudly served in the Marine Corps Infantry since 2022 and recently reenlisted for another four years, is preparing for a long deployment overseas. While he gets ready to serve in the Philippines and possibly Africa, Lillian is navigating pregnancy largely on her own. Support from family has been limited. Her mother is courageously fighting breast cancer, and Andrew’s family lives in Sacramento, too far away to help with daily needs. With so much on their shoulders, even something as simple as furnishing their first home felt overwhelming.

That is where Make It Your Home stepped in. We were honored to furnish their entire home from scratch, filling it with warmth and care. A cozy living room became the space where Lillian and Andrew could relax together before deployment. A dining room was created so they could share meals, welcome friends, and build family traditions. Their master bedroom was designed to be a peaceful retreat, with a mattress graciously donated by Custom Comfort especially for the 4th of July. And the most meaningful room of all, the baby’s room, was lovingly furnished and prepared so their son would come home to a space full of comfort and love.

For the Carters, this transformation was about more than furniture. It was about dignity, stability, and the comfort of knowing that home can be a place of peace no matter what challenges lie ahead. As Lillian shared, “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping make this transition a little easier. Your kindness means more than words can express. Bless you and your families.”

At Make It Your Home, we believe every family deserves a space where joy, connection, and love can grow. For Lillian, Andrew, and their soon to arrive baby boy, that dream became reality.
